158 Periodontal Disease 3 Units

$36.00

We have not been successful in curing periodontal disease. We remove the debris and do the surgeries, but the disease comes right back with the alveolar bone dissolving around the patient’s teeth. In this course we see why this is occurring.

Periodontal disease is the results of teeth moving through bone and tissue similar to orthodontics except the pressure is not constant, but very hard and erratic. In orthodontics the teeth move through bone at an even constant light pressure. The bone and tissues remodel without tearing tissue.

If the orthodontic pressure becomes too strong, the tissue tears, causing the tissue to bleed and become inflamed. The continuous flowing gingival crevicular fluid kicks in sending more fluid into the tissue to prevent bacteria from entering the tissue and allows its excess sticky protein liquid to flow up onto the teeth. It floods the torn epithelial attachment allowing it to reattach to the teeth.
